Nepali Actresses NOW!!!

Arunima Lamsal
Binita Baral
Jharana Bajracharya
Jharana Thapa
Namrata Shrestha
Nisha Adhikari
Reecha Sharma
Rejina Uprety
Rekha Thapa
Richa Singh
Sanchita Luitel

These actresses are now the new faces of Nepali Film Industry and they seem to be doing pretty good to sustain themselves in the movie industry....But the question is how long these actresses are going to last and what kind of mark they will leave in the nepali movie industry....Do they have what it takes to be a legendary actresses in future or are they going to just fade away in year or so....

Among them my If I have to pick, Namrata Shrestha and Reecha Sharma are only ones whom I admire for their acting...Rest of them are pretty known for doing the bold scenes or exposing themselves too much to gain the lime light....

Nisha Adhikari, I am not really sure about her acting but it looks like she is more interested in knowing and understanding the whole process of making movies...

Now and then you will always hear some controversies with these actress...Be it Binita Baral of Chapali Heights or Rekha Thapa for her boldness...But one thing for sure, Nepali actresses of today's generation knows what it takes to be successful and they are not going to compromise with anything......

Love Her or Hate Her But You Cannot Ignore Her : Namrata Shrestha

The one time Controversial Queen our Namrata Shrestha sure knows how to handle things in her own favor.. Its true when people say there is not such thing as a bad publicity....For celebrities any kind of publicity (good or bad) works in their favor...If you don't believe me then look at the pictures of Namrata Shrestha's Restaurant (Attic) in Kathmandu near Lazimpat..

Attic is a restaurant/lounge in Kathmandu located near Lazimpat which is owned by Nepal's most popular/controversial actress Namrata Shrestha. Namrata who owns this joint with few of her friends (Raymon Shrestha) interacted with the media recently to talk about the restaurant venture and her interests.

My bet is everyone who knows or who has seen Namrata Shrestha's past scandalous video will go that restaurant at least once. Its called curiosity my frens.... Curiosity could be for anything...it could be for food... or to see the glimpse of Namrata Shrestha and Kollywood stars...

I am not trying to dig out the dead from the grave by going back to her personal life....but what I am trying to say is her bad publicity worked in her favor...

If you ask me I like Namrata Shrestha...She has stood up high after being under scrutiny for a long time ...Well I think its time for us to move on and leave the past behind......

Namrata all the best for your future....

Nepali Actresses Then

Basundhara Bhusal
Bhuvan Chand
Bipana Thapa
Gauri Malla
Jal Shah
Karishma Manandhar
Kristi Mainali
Mala Sinha
Manisha Koirala
Mausami Malla
Melina Manandhar
Niruta Singh
Mithila Sharma
Sharmila Malla
Tripti Uprety

These are the only few names that I can remember when I think of Nepali old and iconic actresses. Something about them that always intrigued me. Among these actresses I have to say Tripti Uprety tops my list.. She has been my all time favorite actress. I wonder where she must be right now...I know she didn't do that many movies but whatever she did she has been an impeccable actress...

I thought of compiling their pictures and was wondering where they must be. I know few actresses like Manisha koirala, Karishma Manadhar , Niruta Singh and Gauri Malla are still around but their hype is completely taken over by the new comers of Nepal Film Industries.

Lots of people have mixed feeling about Manisha Koirala but I think she did her best to represent herself and to build her name and fame in the Bollywood industry. I am sure her journey wasn't that simple. I admire her passion and determination for that.

Basundhara Bhusal, what to say about her...She has never failed to entertain us. Her talent and uniqueness was once the ultimate source of entertainment.

Gauri Malla, Mithila Sharma, Bipana Thapa, Jal Shah and Melina Manandhar were very much liked by the Nepali audience. They have always given us their best performance.

Nepali movie industry back then was quite different from what we are seeing these days... Things have changed....Audience expectations and preference has changed....Movie industry is now completely moving to the new direction....

However, when we think about the legendary Nepali movies there are only handful of names that we can think of....To me its Prem Pinda, Saino, Lahure, Chino, Darpan Chaya, Maitighar, Kusum E Rumal, Kagbeni, Caravan and Bashudev.

If you all think otherwise feel free to write and share..!!

Nepalese Sex Scandal : Cine Artist

Nepal films quite often come under criticism owing to their low-grade quality. They have also not remained aloof controversies. The latest (short) blue films involving cine artistes Namrata Shrestha and Puja Lama have exposed the anomalies of the Nepali cine sector. Involvement of popular film heroines in sexual activities and blue-films has not only worsened the film-industry as a whole but has also undermined the social values. Such activities are even against the Nepalese law. This report focuses on involvement of several female cine-artistes in such activities

Nepali Movie Chapali Height Review!!

Chapali Height is based on a plot where a couple(Bini and Amir) flees from Pokhara to stay at Amir's friend (Raj)'s home situated at Chapali (a village in north side of Kathmandu) and confusing sexual chemistry rolls in, which leads to a thrilling turn. Besides that no more thing to tell, otherwise the full story will be out. Movie is a mix of physical and little less adventurous ride that misses to mingle along, but the movie has something in entertaining people (not me though). This could only be done when the Director/Producers think and put sequences with the viewers on their mind. Erotic scenes, Beep words, thrilling sequences, and some funny dialogues...all are there to amuse/arouse you.

Technically, presentation style is ok with whole lot of isometric views and repeated ticking sound but misses a good background score in the thrilling sequences. As much of the movie is shot in dark, light reflections has been done wonderfully but lacks the clearness that you expect from New Digital tech Cinema. The movie takes the normal flow of plot besides some flashing sequences. Bini's character done by debutant Actress Beenita Baral shadows Actor duo, Amir Gautam and Raj Ghimire both being debutant. Full of slips, weird acting, shouting dialogues and confused theme won't stop people to go to watch the cinema. So is it early to say another big hit in Nepali Film industry after LOOT ? I say no.

Today I know why Beenita was so confident in Chapali Height that it's gonna win the heart of Nepali youths. The movie has the tickling power to grab the woos of young mind. Three characters, night party, Sexual sequences, Boozing, Puking, SMS's, threesome, thrill action, beep dialogues all have equal weight in making the movie a hit. Especially teenagers were really loving the movie with a single reaction....superb. Though other people were also there to add "bakwash". It is also worth mentioning for a adult certified movie to have such beeps and sexual content but its of no use unless the gatekeepers in Cinema-hall checks people's age. I would also like to add that a rocking song is missing in the movie other than Sabin Rai's title track which could have added much more excitement in the people.

Nepali Actress Sweta Lamichhane in Hollywood

Sweta Lamichhane

You may have read about her already. She's referred to as the the first Nepali Girl in Hollywood, a girl with big dreams and ambitions. Why not? If we have the power to dream then BIG is the way to go. Patan born Sweta Lamichhane currently lives in the US and also happens to be the first Nepalese woman in the United States Marines Corps. Sweta, who is now a US military veteran juggles many aspects of her life like a true star. From studying to working as an actress, model and a singer this energetic soul is already on the process of starting her own skincare and make-up business.

When asked about the challenges that one faces in Hollywood, Sweta explains 'Everyone in Hollywood is an actress/actor and if you're not an actress, you work in the industry! The whole town seems to be competing against each other. It’s very cut-throat. I felt very out of place there.' Being a Beverly Hills Playhouse graduate, Sweta fished around for auditions while she lived in Hollywood, however it wasnt long till she realized that her job as a hostess then was restricting her from pursuing her creative path. To be content and satisfied Sweta made her big move to the Eastside to which she credits for the good thing's that have happened so far.

Since then Sweta now boasts of receiving good amount of call backs, projects and green light at auditions. Lamichhane will also be showcasing her triple threat when she releases her album for which the first single is already online; Little Thing Called Love. This year alone Sweta worked in four independent films which will all be screened at various film festivals including the Sundance. Having just been nominated for the 'Human Values Award', Hollywood should surely watch out for Sweta and we should encourage this Nepalki chori to consistently work harder and grow.

Shova Karki- The Controversial Nepali Model

There are pictures of her all over the internet. She has posed almost naked exposing her body parts. You can take a look at the pictures to see what I am talking about. Every time I look at her pictures I am failing to understand , what is the whole purpose of these pictures.. I mean come on lets be real here, the quality of the pictures are not even great. It looks like somebody used their cheap camera to take this photographs..... She has got no expression in her face.....It looks like her desperate attempt to be on the spot light....

I am not sure about others but I was not thrilled to see her pictures....I have always liked modelling but exposing the body in a such a derogatory way does not make anyone a model whatsoever.....

Shova Karki I hope and wish you luck for future....Next time when you decide to do a photo shoot, try to understand the essence of the real beauty so that you don't misrepresent yourself...

Feel free to write your opinion....

Binita Baral of Chapali Height Posters

Binita Baral of Chapali Height!!

Beenita Baral (Binita Baral) has always been in media coverage. This year must be both lucky and unlucky.Sticking with some unlucky moment that came across Beenita were, Krisha refused the agreement made with Binita to do the leading role in the film Ke ma timro saathi banna sakchhu. Later some extra cropped posters of her upcoming movie Chapali Height were published which were too controversial. Beside that she recently added two "E" in her name by removing a "I" as recommended by astrologist.
Its hard to believe some of Nepali media have started Yellow Journalism either to get more hits or to decrease stardom of people they write about. They give eye catching headlines with useless content. As no one can stop a emerging talent, Beenita is making her first debut as a lead actress from the movie Chapali Height.
Beenita has already established her self as a model and had acted in few music video too.

I had a short talk with Beenita about her upcoming movie Chapali Height.

Can you share something about the plot of the movie?

Beenita: Chapali height is completly diffrent story in history of Nepali film industry , It has very critical sexual physiology content made in different track . The best part in the movie is character Bini(me) it self a controversy name (haha).. And character also very controversial.. Bini is sweet badmaash yet sexy in the first half than she has to face something unimaginable incident in her life than she becomes sum thing else. Chapali height movie is made for adult audience.

In which expect the movie different that other?

Beenita: As I told already it has very critical sexual physiology content made in different track. Beside that is is female dominant movie. I have got a powerful character.

So what can audience expect from the movie?

Beenita: Audience can get romance love thrill and acton as well but not dhishum type. Haha!! Our goal is not changing anybody's life by this movie there is only entertainment.

Chapani Height is Directed by Dipendra K Khanal and produced by Arjun Kumar. The movie is
starring Beenita Baral, Amir Gautam and Raj Ghimire.
